Discord Fonts

Discord’s own formatting covers bold, italics and code. For anything else — gothic letters, bubble text, glitch effects or decorated names — paste in Unicode styles like these.

They work in messages, display names, server nicknames, your About Me and channel topics, and server owners often use them for channel and role names too.

Fancy text on Discord

  • Built-in formatting: **bold**, *italics*, __underline__, ~~strikethrough~~ and `code` work in messages without any copying.
  • Names: styled display names and server nicknames work, but they’re harder to @mention. Keep part of your name in plain letters.
  • Channel names: styled letters and symbols are kept as they are.
  • Glitch text: heavy zalgo can cover nearby messages, and some servers have rules against it. Use the light version for names.

Some apps count a styled letter as two characters, so leave a little room.

Questions

How do I change my font on Discord?

Discord has no font picker, so copy a style from this page and paste it into a message, your display name or your server nickname. Your display name is in User Settings › Profiles.

Can I use fancy fonts in Discord channel names?

Yes. Paste styled letters into the channel name in the channel settings; Discord keeps them as they are.
